What Santa Brought for 2026 | December 26, 2025

The Santa Claus Rally is here! What has it brought us so far and what could it mean for 2026?

Monday

S&P 500 0.64% | NASDAQ 0.52%

It was a risk on Monday. All but consumer staples were in the green for the day. Equity markets rose and trade was thin, as the holiday shortened week was upon us.

Tuesday

S&P 500 0.46% | NASDAQ 0.57%

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the 3rd quarter outperformed, coming in at robust 4.3%. 3.3% was the expectation. This helped markets surge for the second session this week.

Wednesday

S&P 500 0.32% | NASDAQ 0.22%

The Santa Claus Rally appears to be underway. With Markets thinly traded heading into the holiday, green dominated the screen.

Thursday

S&P 500 0.00% | NASDAQ 0.00%

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Friday

S&P 500 0.03% | NASDAQ 0.09%

The seasonally light day after Christmas trading day proved boring. Markets were little changed to end the week, but market gains for the week held on.

Conclusion

S&P 500 1.40% | NASDAQ 1.22%

We are technically in the Santa Claus Rally at the moment. This year it may look like modest gains as the last three years have reflected strong performance. Valuations are still within reason after a weak November. This could push a correction for 2026 out a quarter.
